Central 1 represents credit unions with combined assets of about $75 billion. It is owned by 45 credit unions in British Columbia, 116 credit unions in Ontario and other co-operatives and corporations. It provides wholesale financial services to its Members by managing a collective liquidity pool, aggregating and clearing payments, and serving as a trade association, as well providing other services. The rating assessment reflects the strength of both Central and the underlying credit union members.
