The Regional Municipality of Peel is the upper-tier municipal government in Peel. It provides water and waste waster, police, waste management and social services to residents. The remaining municipal services, such as transit and parks, are provided by the three area municipalities (i.e., the City of Mississauga, the City of Brampton and the Town of Caledon). Peel is part of the Greater Toronto Area and has a population of nearly 1.2 million.
