Suncor Energy Inc. is an integrated oil and gas company. Its upstream operations (50% of pro forma segment earnings in 2009) are largely oil sands (51% of proforma production and 84% of reserves, including Syncrude Canada Ltd.) based in North America, with the balance mainly in the North Sea and North Africa. Its downstream operations (50% of proforma segment earnings) are located in Canada and Colorado, including refineries in Edmonton, Sarnia, Ontario, and Montréal, a lubricants plant in Mississauga, Ontario, and a national network of retail stations.
