TransAlta Corporation (TAC) is Canada’s largest non-regulated electric generation and marketing company, with approximately $8 billion in assets and net ownership of more than 8,826 megawatts of capacity. TAC has generation plants in Canada, the United States and Mexico. It wholly owns TransAlta Utilities Corporation, an electricity generator in Alberta that owns and operates about 44% of the total capacity currently available in Alberta, with 91% of those assets subject to legislatively mandated power purchase agreements.
