Summary

Established under an act of Parliament in 1935, the Canadian Wheat Board's primary objective is to market grain grown in Canada in both interprovincial and export trade. The governing act was amended in 1998 and the CWB is no longer an agent of the Crown but continues to benefit from an unconditional and irrevocable debt guarantee provided by the Government of Canada.
