Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. (AIB) is the product of a 1966 amalgamation of three long-established banks operating in Ireland and Northern Ireland (Munster & Leinster Bank, the Provincial Bank of Ireland and the Royal Bank of Ireland). At 30 June 2011, the Group was the second largest bank in Ireland by assets with EUR 126.9 billion.
