DBRS hosted a teleconference, Wednesday, May 9 at 2:00 pm EDT, to discuss its decision to place the ratings of Alcan Inc. (Alcan or the Company) and Alcoa Inc. (Alcoa) Under Review with Developing Implications and Under Review with Negative Implications, respectively. This followed the announcement by Alcoa that it will make an offer to acquire all of the outstanding common shares of Alcan.
The call will be led by DBRS Managing Director Kam Hon and Senior Vice President Robert Mantse.
In the event that Alcan is acquired by Alcoa, the Company’s ratings would be aligned with those of Alcoa, although DBRS notes that there is a considerable likelihood that competing offers for the Company will emerge in the near future.
